The Prophet ﷺ used to deliver his sermons leaning against a palm-trunk. When the pulpit was made for him, he moved to it, and the trunk moaned in longing. So he came to it and stroked it with his hand.
كان النبي ﷺ يخطب إلى جذع فلما اتخذ المنبر تحول إليه فحن الجذع، فأتاه فمسح يده عليه.
Bukhari narrated it in the Signs of Prophethood (3583), from Muhammad bin Muthanna, who said, Yahya bin Kathir Abu Ghassan narrated to us, who said, Abu Hafs narrated to us, whose name was Umar bin Ala, the brother of Abu Amr bin Ala, who said, I heard Nafi narrate from Ibn Umar, and he mentioned it.
