A man came to the Prophet ﷺ asking him for food, so he gave him half a wasq of barley. The man, his wife, and their guest kept eating from it until he measured it. He then came to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Had you not measured it, you would have continued to eat from it and it would have lasted you."
أن رجلا أتى النبي ﷺ يستطعمه، فأطعمه شطر وسق شعير، فما زال الرجل يأكل منه، وامرأته وضيفهما حتى كاله، فأتى النبي ﷺ فقال: لو لم تكله لأكلتم منه ولقام لكم.
