Utba bin Abdul-Sulami reported,

A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Messenger of Allah, how did your story begin?"He replied, "My wet nurse was from the tribe of Banu Saad bin Bakr. One day, I went out with a son of hers among our young lambs, and we did not take any food with us. I said to him, 'Brother, go and bring us some food from our mother.' So my brother went off, and I stayed with the lambs. Then two white birds approached, looking like vultures. One said to the other, 'Is this him?' The other replied, 'Yes.' They came toward me swiftly, took hold of me, laid me on my back, split open my belly, drew out my heart, and split it open. They removed two black clots from it.Then one said to the other," Yazid says in his version, "'Bring me some snow water.' They washed my insides with it. Then he said, 'Bring me cold water,' and they washed my heart with it. Then he said, 'Bring me tranquility,' and he sprinkled it into my heart. Then one said to the other, 'Stitch it up.' So he stitched it and sealed it with the seal of prophethood."Haywa says in his version, "He said, 'Place him on one scale, and place a thousand of his nation on the other.' I looked up and saw the thousand above me, and I feared that some of them might fall on me. Then he said, 'Even if his entire nation were weighed against him, he would outweigh them.'Then they left, and I was overcome with intense fear. I went to my mother and told her what had happened to me. She feared that I had been afflicted by something and said, 'I seek refuge for you with Allah.' She prepared one of her camels, set me on the saddle," Yazid says, "carried me on the saddle, and rode behind me until we reached my mother. She said, 'Have you delivered back what was entrusted to me and under my protection?' I told her what had happened to me, but it did not alarm her. She said, 'I once saw a light come forth from me by which the palaces of Syria were illuminated.'"
