The Prophet ﷺ used to eat watermelon with fresh dates. Wazad added in another narration that he would say, "We break the heat of this with the coolness of that, and the coolness of this with the heat of that."
أن النبي ﷺ كان يأكل البطيخ بالرطب. وزاد في رواية: فيقول: نكسر حر هذا ببرد هذا، وبرد هذا بحر هذا.
Narrated by Abu Dawud (3836), Tirmidhi (1843), Nasai in Al-Kubra (6687), and Ibn Hibban (5247, 5246), all of them through routes from Hisham bin Urwa, from his father, from Ayesha, and I have mentioned it, and its isnad is sahih. Tirmidhi said, hasan gharib. Abu Dawud alone included the addition, through the route of Abu Usama, who said, Hisham bin Urwa narrated to us with his isnad. Ibn Qayyim said in Zad (4/287), "There are several hadiths about watermelon, none of which is sahih except this single hadith."
