A tailor invited the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to a meal he had prepared. Anas said, "I went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to that meal, and he was served barley bread and a broth containing gourd. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ picking out the pieces of gourd from around the bowl, and from that day on I have always loved gourd."In another narration, Anas added, "After that, no meal was ever prepared for me in which gourd could be added without it being included."
Malik narrated it in the Book of Nikah (51) from Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Abu Talha, who heard Anas bin Malik say what has already been mentioned. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Foods (5439) and Muslim in the Book of Drinks (144:2041), both through the route of Malik, with the same wording. The addition mentioned is also found in Muslim (145), through the route of Mamar, from Thabit Bunani, from Anas.
