Anas reported, "I saw the Prophet ﷺ when he was brought a broth containing gourd and cured meat, and I watched him picking out the pieces of gourd to eat them."
رأيت النبي ﷺ لو أتي بمرقة فيها دباء وقديد، فرأيته يتتبع الدباء يأكلها.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Foods (5437), and Muslim related it in the Book of Drinks (2041:144), both from the hadith of Malik bin Anas, from Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Abu Talha, that he heard Anas bin Malik narrate it, and the wording given here is Bukhari's, while in Muslim it appears in a longer context.The hadith is also found in the Muwatta in the Book of Marriage (51), with wording similar to Muslim's version, but without mention of "qudayd." Qudayd is meat that is cut lengthwise, salted, and dried in the air and sun.
