He described the Prophet ﷺ, saying, "He was of medium height among the people, neither tall nor short. His complexion was radiant, neither stark white nor dark brown. His hair was neither tightly curled nor completely straight, but slightly wavy. Revelation came to him when he was forty years old. He remained in Mecca for ten years receiving revelation, and in Medina for ten years. He passed away with no more than twenty white hairs on his head and beard."Rabia said, "I once saw a strand of his hair, and it was red. I asked about it, and was told that it had turned red from perfume."
أنه يصف النبي ﷺ قال: كان ربعة من القوم، ليس بالطويل ولا بالقصير، أزهر اللون، ليس بأبيض أمهق ولا آدم، ليس بجعد قطط ولا سبط رجل، أنزل عليه وهو ابن أربعين، فلبث بمكة عشر سنين ينزل عليه، وبالمدينة عشر سنين، وقبض وليس رأسه ولحيته عشرون شعرة بيضاء. قال ربيعة: فرأيت شعرا من شعره، فإذا هو أحمر، فسألت، فقيل: احمر من الطيب.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Virtues (3547), and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Merits (113:2347), both of them through Rabia bin Abu Abdul-Rahman, who said, "I heard Anas bin Malik describing the Prophet ﷺ," and he mentioned it.
