Fatimah, daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, sent word to Abu Bakr al-Siddiq asking him for her inheritance from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She mentioned a long story in which it was said that she lived for six months after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When she died, her husband Ali bin Abu Talib buried her at night without informing Abu Bakr of her death, then Ali performed the funeral prayer over her.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Military Expeditions (4240-4241), and Muslim in the Book of Jihad and Expeditions (1759: 52), both of them through the route of Layth, from Aqeel, from Ibn Shihab, from Urwa, from Ayesha, and she related it as part of a long story.
