The ruler of the Copts sent the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a gift of two Coptic slave-girls who were sisters, along with a mule. As for the mule, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to ride it. As for one of the two slave-girls, he took her as a concubine, and she bore him Ibrahim. The other he gave to Hassan bin Thabit al-Ansari.
أهدى أمير القبط لرسول الله ﷺ جاريتين أختين قبطيتين، وبغلة، فأما البغلة فكان رسول الله ﷺ يركبها، وأما إحدى الجاريتين فتسراها، فولدت له إبراهيم وأما الأخرى فأعطاها حسان بن ثابت الأنصاري.
Harith bin Abu Usama narrated it in his Musnad (452 - Bughyat Bahith), Tahawi in Sharh Mushkil (2569), and Tabarani in Awsat (2059 - Majma Bahrayn), through various routes from Hatim bin Ismail, from Bashir bin Muhajir, from Abdullah bin Burayda, from his father, and he mentioned it, the wording being that of Tahawi. Its chain is hasan on account of Bashir bin Muhajir, for his hadith is hasan when he does not report something objected to.So these are thirteen women whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ consummated marriage with. He married eleven of them, while the twelfth - Rayhana - there is disagreement about her status, whether she was a wife or a slave concubine. The thirteenth is Maria the Copt, who was a slave concubine without dispute. As for those he married and then divorced, or those he proposed to but did not marry, or those who offered themselves to him but whom he did not marry, they number around four or five, as Ibn Qayyim said in Zad (1/113). Among them was the daughter of Jawn, as mentioned in the sahih.
