The Prophet ﷺ said, "It would not please me to possess gold equal to Mount Uhud and then die with even a single Dinar, or half a Dinar, of it remaining with me, unless I had set it aside to pay off a debt."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: ما يسرني أن لي أحدا ذهبا أموت يوم أموت، وعندي منه دينار، أو نصف دينار، إلا أن أرصده لغريم.
Ahmad (21322, 21329, 21425, 21570), Tayalisi (467), and Darimi (2809) all narrated it through various routes from Abu Dharr as mentioned. The first route in Ahmad, as well as in Tayalisi and Darimi, contains Suwayd bin Harith, who is majhul (unknown), but he is corroborated in another route in Ahmad with the same meaning though with some difference in wording. There is discussion regarding these routes, but they reinforce one another, and this fits the description of a hasan hadith. The original hadith of Abu Dharr appears in the Sahihayn in a longer context, but without this addition.
