Ayesha reported,

She said, "The wives of the Prophet ﷺ sent Uthman to Abu Bakr asking for their share of what Allah had bestowed upon His Messenger ﷺ as spoils. I was among those pressing the matter, so I said to them, 'Do you not fear Allah? Do you not know that the Prophet ﷺ used to say, "We are not inherited from. Whatever we leave is charity" — meaning himself by that. The family of Muhammad ﷺ only eats from this wealth.'"So the wives of the Prophet ﷺ stopped at what I had informed them.He said, "This charity remained in the hands of Ali, who withheld it from Abbas and prevailed over him concerning it. Then it was in the hands of Hasan bin Ali, then in the hands of Husayn bin Ali, then in the hands of Ali bin Husayn and Hasan bin Hasan, both of whom managed it in turn, then in the hands of Zayd bin Hasan. It is, in truth, the charity of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."

عن عائشة زوج النبي ﷺ

قالت: أرسل أزواج النبي ﷺ عثمان إلى أبي بكر يسألنه ثمنهن مما أفاء الله على رسوله ﷺ فكنت أنا ادهن، فقلت لهن: ألا تتقين الله؟ ألم تعلمن أن النبي ﷺ كان يقول: لا نورث ما تركنا صدقة- يريد بذلك نفسه- إنما يأكل آل محمد ﷺ في هذا المال فانتهى أزواج النبي ﷺ إلى ما أخبرتهن، قال: فكانت هذه الصدقة بيد علي، منعها علي عباسا فغلبه عليها، ثم كان بيد حسن بن علي، ثم بيد حسين بن علي، ثم بيد علي بن حسين وحسن بن كلاهما كانا يتداولانها، ثم بيد زيد بن حسن، وهي صدقة رسول الله ﷺ حقا.
