Anas bin Malik reported,
When the Prophet ﷺ grew gravely ill, the agony of death began to overwhelm him.Fatimah cried out, "Oh, the anguish my father is suffering!"He said to her, "Your father will suffer no anguish after this day."When he died, she said, "Oh my father, he has answered the Lord who called him. Oh my father, the Garden of Firdaws is his abode. Oh my father, to Jibreel we announce his passing."When he had been buried, Fatimah said, "Anas, how could your hearts allow you to pour dust over the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"

لما ثقل النبي ﷺ جعل يتغشاه، فقالت فاطمة: واكرب أباه. فقال لها: ليس على أبيك كرب بعد اليوم فلما مات قالت: يا أبتاه أجاب ربا دعاه يا أبتاه من جنة الفردوس مأواه يا أبتاه إلى جبريل ننعاه. فلما دفن قالت فاطمة: يا أنس، أطابت أنفسكم أن تحثوا على رسول الله ﷺ التراب.
weeping over the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ weeping over the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺBukhari narrated it in the chapter on military expeditions (4462), from Sulayman bin Harb, who said, Hammad narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas, who said what has been mentioned.In Musnad Ahmad (13117), "O Anas, were your hearts content that you buried the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the dust and returned?" He narrated it from Yazid, from Hammad bin Zayd, with his chain of transmission.Ibn Majah narrated it (1630, the repeated one) similarly, and said, Hammad said, "I saw Thabit, when he narrated this hadith, weep until I saw his ribs shaking."
