Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell ill, he would recite the muawwidhat over himself, blowing softly, and wipe his body with his own hand. During the illness in which he passed away, I began to recite those same muawwidhat over him, blowing softly as he used to do, and I would wipe him with his own hand instead of mine.
Malik narrated it in "the Evil Eye" (10) from Ibn Shihab, from Urwa bin Zubayr, from Ayesha, who said, then mentioned it. Muslim narrated it in "the Greeting" (2192:51) via Malik, with the same wording. Bukhari narrated it in "the Campaigns" (4439) via Yunus, from Ibn Shihab, who said, Urwa informed me, with the same wording.
