Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

The Prophet ﷺ dispatched a military expedition. They took spoils, and among the captives was a man who said to them, "I am not one of them. I fell in love with a woman and followed her here. Let me look at her once, then do with me as you wish."There appeared a tall, dark-skinned woman, and he said to her,"Surrender, Hubaysh, before life runs out.Tell me, if I had followed you and caught up with you at Hulya, or overtaken you at al-Khawaniq, would it not have been right that a lover be rewarded who burdened himself with night journeys through the cold and the noonday heat?"She replied, "Yes, may I be your ransom."Then they brought him forward and struck off his head. The woman came, stood over him, gasped once or twice, and died.When they returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him what had happened, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Was there not among you a single merciful man?"

عن ابن عباس

أن النبي ﷺ بعث سرية، قال: فغنموا، وفيهم رجل، فقال لهم: إني لست منهم، عشقت امرأة فلحقتها، فدعوني أنظر إليها نظرة ثم اصنعوا بي ما بدا لكم، فإذا امرأة طويلة أدماء، فقال لها: اسلمي حبيش قبل نفاذ العيش: أرأيتك لو تبعتكم فلحقتكم حلية أو أدركتكم بالخوانق ألم يك حقا أن ينول عاشق تكلف إدلاج السرى والودائق قالت: نعم فديتك، قال: فقدموه فضربوا عنقه، فجاءت المرأة، فوقفت عليه، فشهقت شهقة أو شهقتين ثم ماتت. فلما قدموا على رسول الله ﷺ أخبروه الخبر فقال رسول الله ﷺ: أما كان فيكم رجل رحيم.
