The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Lampoon the Quraysh, for it is harder on them than a shower of arrows."He sent for Ibn Rawahah and said, "Lampoon them." So he lampooned them, but the Prophet was not satisfied. Then he sent for Kaab bin Malik, then he sent for Hassan bin Thabit. When Hassan came in to him, he said, "It is about time you sent for this lion that lashes its tail." Then he stuck out his tongue and began moving it about, saying, "By the One who sent you with the truth, I will tear them apart with my tongue the way leather is shredded."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not be hasty. Abu Bakr is the most knowledgeable of the Quraysh in their lineages, and I have a lineage among them. Let him clarify my lineage for you."So Hassan went to Abu Bakr, then returned and said, "Messenger of Allah, he has clarified your lineage for me. By the One who sent you with the truth, I will pull you out from among them as a hair is pulled out of dough."Ayesha said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say to Hassan, 'The Holy Spirit will continue to support you so long as you defend Allah and His Messenger.'"She also said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Hassan lampooned them and brought healing and was himself healed.'"Hassan said:I lampooned Muhammad, but I answered on his behalf, and with Allah lies the reward for that.I lampooned Muhammad, righteous and upright, the Messenger of Allah, whose nature is faithfulness. My father, his father, and my own honor are a shield for the honor of Muhammad against you.May I lose my sons if you do not see them raising dust from the flanks of Kada, vying with the reins as they ascend, upon their shoulders the thirsty spears. Our steeds gallop on at full stretch, while women strike at them with their veils. If you turn aside from us, we shall make pilgrimage, the conquest will come, and the veil will be lifted.Otherwise, brace yourselves for the clash of a day in which Allah will honor whom He wills. And Allah has said, "I have sent a servant who speaks the truth, in which there is no obscurity."And Allah has said, "I have prepared an army," they are the Ansar, whose purpose is the encounter.Every day we face from Maadd abuse, or battle, or satire.Whoever among you lampoons the Messenger of Allah, or praises him, or supports him, it is all the same.Gabriel, the messenger of Allah, is among us, and the Holy Spirit, who has no equal.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Virtues (2490:157), from Abdul-Malik bin Shuayb bin Layth, who said, "My father told me, from my grandfather, who said, 'Khalid bin Yazid told me, who said, "Saeed bin Abu Hilal told me, from Umara bin Ghaziya, from Muhammad bin Ibrahim, from Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, from Ayesha," and he mentioned it.'"
