Umar bin Khattab reported,

By the One in whose hand my soul rests, were it not that I would leave the last of the people destitute with nothing, I would not have conquered any town without dividing it up just as the Prophet ﷺ divided Khaybar. But instead I leave it as a treasury for them to share.

عن عمر بن الخطاب قال

أما والذي نفسي بيده لو لا أن أترك آخر الناس بيانا ليس لهم شيء ما فتحت علي قرية إلا قسمتها كما قسم النبي ﷺ خيبر، ولكن أتركها خزانة لهم يقتسمونها.
