We were stationed at the frontier of the city of Qinnasrin with Shurahbil bin Simt. When he conquered it, he captured sheep and cattle there, distributed a portion of them among us, and placed the rest in the spoils of war. I then met Muaz bin Jabal and told him about it.Muaz said, "We went on a campaign with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Khaybar, where we captured sheep. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed a portion of them among us and placed the rest in the spoils of war."
رابطنا مدينة (قنسرين) مع شرحبيل بن السمط، فلما فتحها، أصاب فيها غنما وبقرا، فقسم فينا طائفة منها، وجعل بقيتها في المغنم فلقيت معاذ بن جبل فحدثته؟ فقال معاذ: غزونا مع رسول الله ﷺ خيبر، فأصبنا فيها غنما، فقسم فينا رسول الله ﷺ طائفة وجعل بقيتها في المغنم.
Abu Dawud (2707) narrated it, and from his route Bayhaqi (9/60), from Muhammad bin Musaffa, who said, Muhammad bin Mubarak told us, from Yahya bin Hamza, who said, Abu Abdul-Aziz, a shaykh from the people of Jordan, told us, from Ubada bin Nusai, from Abdul-Rahman bin Ghanm, and he related it.Its isnad is hasan because of Muhammad bin Musaffa and Abu Abdul-Aziz (who is Yahya bin Abdul-Aziz), for both of them are hasan narrators of hadith.
