Ajurri narrated it in Shariah (780), and Khatib in Tarikh Baghdad (40/3) (in the biography of Muhammad bin Umar bin Abdul-Aziz al-Hamdani). Both narrated it via the route of Muhammad bin Bakkar, who said, Anbasah bin Abdul-Wahid narrated to us, from Wasil, from Umayy Abu Abdul-Rahman, from Shaybi, from Kaab bin Ujra, and he related the hadith.Khatib said, following his narration of the hadith, "Ali bin Umar, meaning Daraqutni, said, 'This is a gharib hadith from the hadith of Shaybi, from Kaab bin Ujra. Umayy bin Rabia al-Sayrafi narrated it alone from him, and Wasil bin Hayyan narrated it alone from Umayy, and it is not known that anyone narrated it from him other than Anbasah bin Abdul-Wahid.'"I say, the men of its chain are trustworthy, and the fact that some of them narrated it alone from others does not harm it. As for Wasil, Daraqutni holds that he is Ibn Hayyan al-Ahdab, who is a trustworthy and reliable narrator relied upon by all the major hadith compilers. It is also said that he is the freed slave of Abu Uyayna, who is likewise trustworthy and authoritative. As for Umayy, he is Ibn Rabia al-Sayrafi, Abu Abdul-Rahman, who is also trustworthy.
