Bukhari narrated it in Maghazi (4103) and Muslim in Tafsir (12:3020), both from the hadith of Abdah bin Sulayman, from Hisham (he is Ibn Urwa bin Zubayr), from his father, from Ayesha, who said, and she mentioned it.It has been narrated from Ibn Abbas regarding the words of Allah, "When they came upon you from above you" [Ahzab 33:10], that this refers to Uyayna bin Hisn, and "and from below you" refers to Abu Sufyan bin Harb. It has also been said that those who came upon them from above were Banu Qurayza, and those from below were Quraysh and Ghatfan.Ibn Ishaq said, Quraysh camped at the meeting place of the torrents with ten thousand men from their allied tribes and those who followed them from Banu Kinana and Tihama, while Uyayna camped with Ghatfan and those who were with them from the people of Najd, beside Uhud at the gate of Numan. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the Muslims went out, three thousand strong, positioning themselves with their backs to Sila, with the trench between them and the enemy forces, and they placed the women and children in the fortified towers.Sirat bin Hisham (2/219-220)The polytheists remained besieging the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for a month. There was no fighting between them because of the trench that stood between them and the Muslims.
