Anas bin Malik reported,

On the day of Uhud, the people fled from around the Prophet ﷺ, but Abu Talha stood firm in front of him, shielding him with his leather buckler. Abu Talha was a powerful archer who drew his bow with great force, and that day he broke two or three bows. When a man passed by carrying a quiver of arrows, the Prophet ﷺ would say, "Empty it out for Abu Talha."The Prophet ﷺ would raise his head to look out at the enemy, and Abu Talha would say, "May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, do not raise your head, lest an arrow from the enemy strike you. My chest shields yours."I saw Ayesha Bint Abu Bakr and Umm Sulaym with their garments tucked up so that I could see the anklets on their legs, carrying waterskins on their backs. They would pour the water into the mouths of the men, then return and refill them, then come back and pour it again into the men's mouths. The sword fell from Abu Talha's hand either twice or three times.

عن أنس قال

لما كان يوم أحد انهزم الناس عن النبي ﷺ وأبو طلحة بين يدي النبي ﷺ مجوب عليه بحجفة له، وكان أبو طلحة رجلا راميا شديد النزع، كسر يومئذ قوسين أو ثلاثا، وكان الرجل يمر معه بجعبة من النبل فيقول: انثرها لأبي طلحة، قال ويشرف النبي ﷺ ينظر إلى القوم، فيقول أبو طلحة: بأبي أنت وأمي، لا تشرف يصيبك سهم من سهام القوم، نحري دون نحرك، ولقد رأيت عائشة بنت أبي بكر وأم سليم وإنهما لمشمرتان أرى خدم سوقهما تنقزان القرب على متونهما تفرغانه في أفواه القوم، ثم ترجعان فتملآنهما، ثم تجيئان فتفرغانه في أفواه القوم، ولقد وقع السيف من يدي أبي طلحة إما مرتين وإما ثلاثا.
