Ali said, "On the day of Uhud, I saw two men dressed in white on the right and left of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, fighting in his defense with the utmost intensity. I had never seen them before, nor did I ever see them again."
لقد رأيت يوم أحد عن يمين رسول الله ﷺ وعن يساره، رجلين عليهما ثياب بيض، يقاتلان عنه كأشد القتال، ما رأيتهما قبل ولا بعد.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Military Expeditions (4045) and Muslim in the Book of Virtues (47:2306), both through Ibrahim bin Saad (that is, Ibn Ibrahim bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf), from his father Saad, from his grandfather (Ibrahim bin Abdul-Rahman), from Saad bin Abu Waqqas, who said, then he mentioned it.His statement, "two men wearing white garments," refers to Jibreel and Mikail, peace be upon them, as it appears in Sahih Muslim (2306).
