Abu Hurairah reported,

Amr bin Uqaysh had given out loans with interest during the days of ignorance, and he was reluctant to embrace Islam until he had collected what was owed to him. Then came the day of Uhud.He asked, "Where are the sons of so-and-so?"They replied, "At Uhud."He asked, "Where is so-and-so?"They replied, "At Uhud."He asked, "And where is so-and-so?" naming his paternal uncle. They replied, "At Uhud."So he put on his armor, mounted his horse, and headed toward them. When the Muslims saw him, they said, "Keep away from us, Amr!"He said, "I have indeed believed."He fought until he was wounded, and was carried back to his family in that state. Saad bin Muaz came and said to Amr's sister, "Ask him, was it out of zeal for your people, or anger on their behalf, or anger for the sake of Allah?"He answered, "It was anger for the sake of Allah and His Messenger."Then he died and entered Paradise, though he had never prayed a single prayer to Allah.
