The Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed us, while we were at Khaybar, not to kill any child or woman.
عهد إلينا رسول الله ﷺ- ونحن بخيبر- أن لا نقتل صبيا ولا امرأة.
Ishaq bin Rahawayh narrated it (Matalib Aliyah - 1959) from Rawh bin Ubada, who said, Muhammad bin Abu Hafsa narrated to us, from Zuhri, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Kaab bin Malik, or Abdullah bin Kaab - who was the guide of Kaab bin Malik - from Kaab bin Malik, and he related it.Ibn Hajar said in Matalib Aliyah, "This isnad is sahih."I say, there is disagreement over the narrator from Kaab bin Malik, just as there is disagreement over whether this belongs among the narrations attributed to Kaab, or those attributed to his brother. This is also the case with Ahmad (in the missing portion of the manuscript that was later recovered) (.../66), from Abdul-Razzaq, from Maamar, who said, Zuhri said, Ibn Kaab bin Malik informed me, from his uncle, that the Prophet ﷺ, when he sent someone against Ibn Abu Huqayq at Khaybar, related the same account. It is also found in Musnaf Abdul-Razzaq (9385), but Ibn Hajar holds the view that Malik had no son other than the well-known poet. He mentioned this in the biography of Kaab bin Malik in Isabah. For this reason, more than one scholar preferred the view that this belongs among the narrations attributed to Kaab bin Malik, narrated from him by his son Abdullah, and from him by a number of his companions. Ibn Abdul-Barr, in Tamhid (11/70-71), presented some of these chains and stated firmly that the hadith belongs to Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Kaab bin Malik (meaning, from Abdullah, from his father Kaab bin Malik).
