Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I saw in a dream that I was wearing a strong coat of mail, and I saw cattle being slaughtered. I interpreted the strong coat of mail as Madinah, and the cattle as casualties among my companions. Allah's choice is best."Then he said to his companions, "If we remain in Madinah and they enter against us, we will fight them there."They replied, "Messenger of Allah, by Allah, no enemy ever entered against us in Madinah during the days of ignorance, so how can they enter against us now in Islam?"Affan said in his version, He replied, "Do as you wish, then." So he put on his armor. The Ansar then said, "We have rejected the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ view." They came to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, do as you wish."He replied, "It is not fitting for a prophet, once he has put on his armor, to take it off until he has fought."
