Shaqiq reported,

Ibn Masud reported that the eighteen companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who were killed on the day of Badr had their souls placed by Allah in green birds roaming in Paradise. While they were in that state, their Lord looked down upon them and said, "My servants, what do you desire?"They replied, "Our Lord, is there anything beyond this?"He said again, "My servants, what do you desire?"On the fourth time, they said, "That our souls be returned to our bodies so we may be killed again as we were killed before."
