The stipend granted to those who fought at Badr was five thousand, and Umar said, "I shall surely give them precedence over those who came after them."

Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Military Expeditions (4022) from Ishaq bin Ibrahim, who heard Muhammad bin Fudayl, from Ismail (that is, Ibn Abu Khalid), from Qays, who said, and then he related it.
