The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us on the day of Badr, "When they overwhelm you, shoot at them, but conserve your arrows."In another wording, the Prophet ﷺ said on the day of Badr, when we had drawn up our ranks against Quraysh and they had drawn up theirs against us, "When they overwhelm you, use your arrows."
Bukhari related it in Al-Maghazi (3984) from Abdullah bin Muhammad Jafi, who said, Abu Ahmad Zubayri (that is, Muhammad bin Abdullah Asadi) told us, Abdul-Rahman bin Ghasil told us, from Hamza bin Abu Usayd and Zubayr bin Munzir bin Abu Usayd, from Abu Usayd (that is, Malik bin Rabia Khazraji Ansari), who said, and then he mentioned it.Bukhari also related it in Al-Jihad (2900) from Abu Naeem, from Abdul-Rahman bin Ghasil, from Hamza bin Abu Usayd, from his father, and he mentioned it with the second wording. His statement, "when they draw near to you," means when they come close to you.
