Ayesha reported,

When the Prophet ﷺ was taken on the Night Journey to the Aqsa Mosque, people began talking about it the next morning. Some who had believed in him and accepted his truthfulness turned away from the faith, and a group rushed to Abu Bakr and said, "Are you still with your companion? He claims he was taken to Jerusalem last night."Abu Bakr asked, "Did he really say that?"They replied, "Yes."He said, "If he said it, then he has spoken the truth."They said, "And you believe him that he went to Jerusalem in the night and returned before morning?"He answered, "Yes, I believe him in matters far more remote than this. I believe him concerning news from the heavens that comes in a single morning or evening."It was for this reason that Abu Bakr was called as-Siddiq, the Truthful One.
