Ziyad, or Ibn Ziyad, mentioned the Pond in a gathering and denied its existence. When word of this reached Anas, he said, "By Allah, I will set him straight tomorrow."He said to them, "What is it about the Pond that you deny?"They replied, "Did you hear the Prophet ﷺ mention it?"He answered, "Yes. I knew elderly women in Medina who never performed a prayer without asking Allah Almighty to let them drink from the Pond of Muhammad ﷺ."

Ibn Abu Asim narrated it in Sunnah (698) from Hudba, who said, Hammad bin Salama told us, from Thabit, from Anas, and he related it. Abu Yaala also narrated it (3355) through the route of Abdul-Rahman bin Sallam Jumahi, from Hammad, with the same wording. Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Hafiz said the same in Fath al-Bari (11/468) after attributing it to Abu Yaala.Imam Ahmad narrated it (13405) through another route, from Hammad bin Salama, from Ali bin Zayd, from Anas, relating something similar, adding a description of the Hawd, "The distance between its two ends is like the distance between Ailah and Makkah, or like the distance between Sanaa and Makkah, and its vessels are more numerous than the stars of the sky." This chain contains Ali bin Zayd, who is Ibn Jadan, and he is daif.Hakim narrated it (1/78), and Bayhaqi in Bath (158), both through another route, from Humayd, from Anas, similar to the hadith of Ibn Abu Asim, and Hakim said, "Sahih according to the standard of Muslim."He also narrated it through another route, from Humayd, from Anas, who said, I went in to see Ubaydullah bin Ziyad, while they were discussing the Hawd. He said, Anas has come to you. He said, "Anas, what do you say about the Hawd?" I said, I never imagined that I would live to see people like you disputing about the Hawd. I have left behind me old women, not one of whom prays a single prayer without asking her Lord to bring her to the Hawd of Muhammad. ﷺ And he said, "Sahih according to the standard of the two Shaykhs."
