The owners of camels and the owners of sheep were boasting against one another, so the Prophet ﷺ said, "Musa was sent as a prophet while he was a shepherd of sheep, Dawud was sent as a prophet while he was a shepherd of sheep, and I was sent while I was tending sheep for my family at Ajyad."
تفاخر أهل الإبل وأصحاب الشاء، فقال النبي ﷺ: بعث موسى وهو راعي غنم، وبعث داود وهو راعي غنم، وبعثت أنا، وأنا أرعى غنما لأهلي بأجياد.

Bukhari narrated it in Adab al-Mufrad (577), and Nasai in Kubra (11262), both through chains going back to Shubah, who said, I heard Abu Ishaq say, I heard Abdah bin Hazn say, then he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.Abdah bin Hazn is the Nasri, who settled in Kufa. Shubah said, "He met the Prophet ﷺ." Bukhari, Abu Naeem, Bawardi, Ibn Zabr, and Ibn Sakan affirmed his companionship. Others said he was among the Tabiin. The one who affirms takes precedence over the one who denies. Ibn Hajar mentioned him in the first section on the Companions, which includes those whose companionship has been established. See Isabah (5306).
