Tirmidhi (747), Ibn Majah (1740), and Ahmad (8361) all narrated it from the hadith of Muhammad bin Rifa, from Suhayl bin Abu Salih, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it.The other two added, "So Allah forgives every Muslim, or every believer, except those who are estranged from one another." Then he says, "Postpone them both."This is the wording found in the Musnad, while the wording of Ibn Majah is, "Leave them both until they reconcile."See for more, Fadail Awqat.This hadith is evidence for the recommendation of fasting on Monday, every week, and this is not restricted to any particular month over another.The one fasting should spend this day remembering Allah, reciting the Quran, and doing good deeds such as comforting the poor and needy, helping orphans and widows, and other righteous acts, because these elevate this day. He should avoid innovations and newly invented matters, because they are rejected and turned back upon whoever commits them.
