The Prophet ﷺ said, "On the Day of Resurrection, Allah the Exalted will say to Adam , 'Stand up and send forth from your offspring nine hundred and ninety-nine to the Fire, and one to Paradise.'"His companions wept at this. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, "Raise your heads. By the One in whose hand is my soul, my nation among the nations is like a single white hair on the hide of a black bull."This eased their distress.
Ahmad (27489) narrated it from Haytham bin Kharija, who said, Abu Rabi informed us, from Yunus, from Abu Idris, from Abu Darda, and he mentioned it. Its isnad is hasan because of Abu Rabi, who is Sulayman bin Utba Darani, for there is disagreement about him, though his hadith is hasan when nothing anomalous occurs in it, and this hadith has sahih corroborating narrations as mentioned before. Haythami deemed its isnad jayyid in al-Majma (10/393).It was narrated from Abdullah bin Masud, who said, The Messenger of Allah said, "On the Day of Resurrection Allah will send forth a caller who will call out, 'O Adam, Allah commands you to send forth from your offspring a company to the Fire.' Adam will say, 'O Lord, how many?' It will be said to him, 'Out of every hundred, ninety-nine.'" A man among the people then said, "Who among us will be saved after this, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Do you not know that you are among mankind like nothing but a mole on the chest of a camel?"Ahmad (3677) and Abu Yaala (5124) both narrated it through the route of Ibrahim bin Muslim Hijri, from Abu Ahwas, from Abdullah, and he mentioned it. Haythami said in al-Majma (10/393), "Ahmad and Abu Yaala narrated it, and it contains Ibrahim bin Muslim Hijri, who is daif."
