The Prophet ﷺ took his sword Dhul-Fiqar as part of his share of spoils on the day of Badr, and it was the same sword about which he had the vision on the day of Uhud.
أن النبي ﷺ تنفل سيفه ذا الفقار يوم بدر، وهو الذي رأى فيه الرؤيا يوم أحد.
Tirmidhi (1561) reported it, and this is his wording, as did Ibn Majah (2808), Ahmad (2445), and Hakim (2/128-129), and from him Bayhaqi in his Sunan (417), through multiple routes from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Zinad, from his father, from Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Utba bin Masud, from Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned it. The wording of Ahmad and Hakim is long. Its chain is hasan because of Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Zinad.Tirmidhi said in Ilal al-Kabir (2/668), "I asked Muhammad about this hadith, and he said, 'They narrate it from Ubaydullah as a mursal narration.' Muhammad said, 'The hadith of Ibn Abu Zinad, from his father, from Ubaydullah, from Ibn Abbas, is sahih.'"Tirmidhi said in his Sunan, "This is a hasan gharib hadith, we only know it through this route, from the hadith of Ibn Abu Zinad."Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in its chain of transmission."
