The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that the spoils taken from a slain enemy belong to the one who killed him, and he did not take a fifth from those spoils.
أن رسول الله ﷺ قضى بالسلب للقاتل، ولم يخمس السلب.
Abu Dawud (2721) related it, and Bayhaqi (6/310) related it through his route, from Saeed bin Mansur (2698), who said, Ismail bin Ayyash narrated to us, from Safwan bin Amr, from Abdul-Rahman bin Jubayr bin Nufayr, from his father, from Awf bin Malik Ashjai and Khalid bin Walid, and the two of them mentioned it.Its chain contains Ismail bin Ayyash, who is truthful in his narrations from the people of Syria, and this narration is one of them, and it has also been corroborated. Ahmad (16822) and Ibn Jarud (1077) related it through the route of Abu Mughira Abdullah bin Hajjaj, from Safwan bin Amr, with the same chain, and its wording is that the Prophet ﷺ did not take a fifth from the spoils taken from a slain enemy.This is a sahih chain.
