The Prophet ﷺ passed by a group of men who were practicing archery and said, "Shoot, sons of Ismail, for your father was an archer."
مر النبي ﷺ بنفر يرمون فقال: رميا بني إسماعيل؛ فإن أباكم كان راميا.
Ibn Majah (2815), Ahmad (3444), and Hakim (2/94) all narrated it through Abdul-Razzaq, who said, Sufyan told us, from Amash, from Ziyad bin Husayn, from Abu Aliyah, from Ibn Abbas, who mentioned it. This is a sahih chain of transmission, and Abu Aliyah is Rafi bin Mihran Riyahi. Hakim said, sahih according to the standard of Muslim. Busiri also graded it sahih in Misbah Zujaja (3/166).
