He said that the Prophet ﷺ passed by a group of men from Aslam who were competing in archery. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Shoot, sons of Ismail, for your father was an archer. Shoot, and I am with the sons of so-and-so."One of the two teams then held back their hands, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What is the matter with you? Why are you not shooting?"They replied, "How can we shoot when you are with them?"The Prophet ﷺ said, "Shoot, for I am with all of you."
قال مر النبي ﷺ على نفر من أسلم ينتضلون، فقال النبي ﷺ: لوموا بني إسماعيل، فإن أباكم كان راميا، ارموا وأنا مع بني فلان، قال: فأمسك أحد الفريقين بأيديهم، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: ما لكم لا ترمون؟ قالوا: كيف نرمي وأنت معهم؟ قال النبي ﷺ: ارموا فأنا معكم كلكم.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Jihad and Expeditions (2899), from Abdullah bin Maslama, who said, Hatim bin Ismail narrated to us, from Yazid bin Abu Ubayd, who said, "I heard Salama bin Akwa," and he related it.
