Jahimah came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, I intend to go out on a military campaign, and I have come to seek your counsel."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Do you have a mother?"He replied, "Yes."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then stay close to her, for Paradise lies beneath her feet."
Nasai (3104), Ibn Majah (2781), Hakim (2/104), and Bayhaqi (9/26) all narrated it, all of them through Hajjaj bin Muhammad, from Ibn Jurayj, who said, Muhammad bin Talha bin Abdullah bin Abdul-Rahman informed me, from his father Talha, from Muawiya bin Jahima, and he related it.Ahmad (15538) narrated it through Rawh bin Ubada, and Ibn Abu Asim in al-Ahad wal-Mathani (1371) and Hakim (4/151) narrated it through Abu Asim Dahhak bin Makhlad, both of them from Ibn Jurayj with the same wording. There is disagreement about its chain going back to Ibn Jurayj. Hajjaj bin Muhammad Masissi is the most reliable person with regard to Ibn Jurayj, and he was corroborated by the two trustworthy narrators Dahhak bin Makhlad and Rawh bin Ubada. Bayhaqi said in Shuab al-Iman (6/178), after pointing out the disagreement concerning Ibn Jurayj, "The narration of Hajjaj from Ibn Jurayj is more sahih."This chain is hasan, for Muhammad bin Talha bin Abdullah bin Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Bakr Siddiq is trustworthy (sadooq), and his father Talha was narrated from by a group of narrators. Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators (4/392), Hakim graded his narration sahih, and Dhahabi said in al-Kashif, "Trustworthy (sadooq)." A narrator of this standing has his hadith accepted in matters of virtues, provided there is nothing objectionable in it.Hakim said, "A hadith with a sahih chain," and Munziri also endorsed this in Targheeb (3778).
