A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked his permission to go out for jihad.The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Are your parents alive?"The man replied, "Yes."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then strive in serving them."
جاء رجل إلى النبي ﷺ فاستأذنه في الجهاد، فقال: أحي والداك؟ قال: نعم، قال: ففيهما فجاهد.
Bukhari narrated it in jihad and Sayr (3004), and Muslim in righteousness and kinship ties (2549:5), both through the route of Shubah, and Muslim added Sufyan, from Habib bin Abu Thabit, who said, I heard Abu Abbas the poet say, I heard Abdullah bin Amr, and he mentioned it.
