The Prophet ﷺ said, "Strive against the polytheists with your wealth, your lives, and your tongues."In another narration he added, "and your hands."
أن النبي ﷺ قال: جاهدوا المشركين بأموالكم وأنفسكم وألسنتكم. زاد في رواية: وأيديكم.
It was narrated by Abu Dawud (2504), Nasai (3096), Ahmad (12246, 12555), and Hakim (2/81) through various chains from Hammad bin Salama, from Humayd, from Anas, who mentioned it. The addition is from Ahmad in the second place. Its chain is sahih, and Hakim said, "This is a sahih hadith according to the criteria of Muslim."His saying, "Fight the polytheists," means those who wage war against you, since they had already been warned but did not desist from harming the Muslims and fighting them.
