Nasai (5546) and Hakim (4/141) both narrated it via Ubaydullah bin Musa, from Shayban, from Amash, from Muharib bin Dithar, from Jabir, who said, then he related it. The addition is from Hakim, who said, "Sahih according to the criterion of the two Shaykhs." And it is as he said. Shayban here is Ibn Abdul-Rahman Nahwi. Ibn Hajar also graded its chain sahih in al-Fath (10/36), and it is not harmed by the fact that some narrated it as stopped (mawquf), because an addition from a trustworthy, precise narrator is accepted, as is established in the sciences of hadith.Nasai (5544) narrated it via Shuba, and (5545) via Thawri, and Ibn Abu Shayba (7/539) from Abdul-Rahman bin Sulayman, all three of them from Muharib bin Dithar, from Jabir, as a stopped report with the wording, "Unripe dates and ripe dates are wine." So it turns out that Jabir sometimes attributed it to the Prophet, and sometimes gave it as his own opinion.
