I came to the Prophet ﷺ with a cup of milk from Naqi that was not covered, so he said, "Why did you not cover it, even by placing a stick across it?"
أتيت النبي ﷺ بقدح لبن من النقيع ليس مخمرا فقال: ألا خمرته ولو تعرض عليه عودا.
Muslim narrated it in "The Book of Drinks" (2010:93) through several routes from Abu Asim, from Dahhak, who said, Ibn Jurayj informed us, Abu Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah say, Abu Humayd informed me, and he related it.His statement, "not covered," means not covered up. Takhmir means covering, and from this comes the word khamr (wine), because it covers up the intellect.
