We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he asked for something to drink. A man said, "Messenger of Allah, shall we give you nabidh to drink?"He replied, "Yes."The man hurried off and brought back a cup containing nabidh. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Why did you not cover it, even by laying a stick across it?"Then he drank.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Drinks (2011: 94) from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba and Abu Kurayb, and the wording is Abu Kurayb's, both of whom said, Abu Muawiya narrated to us, from Amash, from Abu Salih, from Jabir bin Abdullah, who said, and he mentioned it.His saying, "A man said," perhaps this is Abu Humayd Saadi, as in the previous hadith. And his saying, "Why did you not cover it," meaning cover it, as mentioned before.
