He said, I asked Ibn Umar about nabidh made in earthenware jars.He replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade nabidh made in earthenware jars."So I went to Ibn Abbas and said, "Have you not heard what Ibn Umar is saying?"He asked, "What is he saying?"I said, "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade nabidh made in earthenware jars."He said, "Ibn Umar has spoken the truth. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade nabidh made in earthenware jars."I asked, "What is nabidh of the jar?"He answered, "Anything made from baked clay."
قال: سألت ابن عمر عن نبيذ الجر؟ فقال: حرم رسول الله ﷺ نبيذ الجر، فأتيت ابن عباس فقلت: ألا تسمع ما يقول ابن عمر؟ قال: وما يقول؟ قلت: حرم رسول الله ﷺ نبيذ الجر. فقال: صدق ابن عمر، حرم رسول الله ﷺ نبيذ الجر، فقلت: وأي شيء نبيذ الجر؟ فقال: كل شيء يصنع من المدر.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Drinks (1997:47), from Shayban bin Farroukh, who said, Jareer bin Hazim narrated to us, who said, Yaala bin Hakeem narrated to us, from Saeed bin Jubayr, who said, then he mentioned it.Nawawi said, this is an explicit statement from Ibn Abbas that the term "jarr" (clay jar) includes all types of jars made from clay, which is baked earth.
