I heard Aaiz bin Amr forbidding the use of gourds, green jars, vessels coated with pitch, and hollowed stumps.I asked him, "Is this from the Prophet ﷺ?"He replied, "Yes."
سمعت عائذ بن عمرو ينهى عن الدباء والحنتم والمزفت والنقير. فقلت له: عن النبي ﷺ؟ فقال: نعم.
Ahmad (20638) and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (18/18-19) both narrated it through the route of Shubah, from Abu Shamir Dubai, who said, then he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Abu Shamir Dubai Basri, for Shubah and others narrated from him, Muslim included his narration paired with another, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators. Someone like him has his hadith graded hasan, especially when there are corroborating narrations. Haythami attributed it in Al-Majmu (58/5) to Ahmad alone and said, "Its narrators are the narrators of the sahih."
