The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me and Muaz to Yemen. Muaz said, "You are sending us to a land whose people drink much. What may I drink?"He replied, "Drink, but do not drink anything intoxicating."
بعثني رسول الله ﷺ أنا ومعاذ إلى اليمن، فقال معاذ: إنك تبعثنا إلى أرض كثير شراب أهلها، فما أشرب؟ قال: اشرب ولا تشرب مسكرا.
Nasai (5596) narrated it from Ahmad bin Abdullah bin Ali, who said, Abdul-Rahman narrated to us, from Israil, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu Burda, from his father, who said, then he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Abdul-Rahman is Ibn Mahdi.
