The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade, on the day of Khaybar, the eating of the meat of domestic donkeys, and he forbade animals that feed on filth, both riding them and eating their meat.
نهى رسول الله ﷺ يوم خيبر عن لحوم الحمر الأهلية، وعن الجلالة، عن ركوبها، وأكل لحمها.
Reported by Abu Dawud (3811), Ahmad (7039), and Hakim (2/103) through multiple chains from Wahib, who said, our teacher told us Ibn Tawus narrated from Amr bin Shuayb, from his father, from his grandfather, and he related it. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Amr bin Shuayb, for he is hasan al-hadith. Wahib is Ibn Khalid bin Ajlan Baahili, and Ibn Tawus is Abdullah.A note, Nasai (4447) reported it through the route of Suhayl (thus, but the correct form is Sahl) bin Bakkar, who said, Wahib bin Khalid told us, from Ibn Tawus, from Amr bin Shuayb, from his father, from his father Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Amr, and he said once, "from his father," and said once, "from his grandfather," that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he related it.Thus he reported it with uncertainty, though Sahl bin Bakkar himself reported it with certainty as narrated by the group from Wahib in the version of Abu Dawud, and their version is more deserving of preference, since whoever preserved the narration accurately takes precedence over whoever did not.
