We took captives on the day of Hunayn, and we used to practice withdrawal during intercourse with them, hoping to ransom them back to their families. Some of us said to one another, "Are you doing this while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is among us? Go and ask him."So we went to him, or we mentioned this matter to him, and he said, "Not every drop of fluid produces a child. When Allah has decreed something, it will come to pass."We passed by cooking pots that were boiling, and he asked us, "What is this meat?"We replied, "The meat of donkeys."He asked, "Domestic or wild?"We answered, "Domestic."He said to us, "Then turn them over and spill them out."So we overturned them, even though we were hungry and craving the meat. And we were instructed to tie the mouths of the waterskins.
Imam Ahmad (11778) narrated it from Abu Naeem (that is, Fadl bin Dukayn), who said, Yunus narrated to us, Abu Wadak narrated to me, saying, Abu Saeed narrated to me, and he related it.Ibn Abu Shayba (24821) and Abu Yaala (1183) also narrated it through Yunus, with the story about domestic donkeys. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Yunus, who is the son of Abu Ishaq Sabi, for he is truthful and his hadith is hasan.
