While we were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ, some palm pith was brought to him. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Among the trees there is one whose blessing is like the blessing of the Muslim."I thought he meant the palm tree, and I wanted to say, "It is the palm tree, Messenger of Allah." But then I looked around and found myself the tenth and youngest of ten, so I kept silent. The Prophet ﷺ then said, "It is the palm tree."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Foods (5444), from Umar bin Hafs bin Ghiyath, who said, my father narrated to us, who said, Amash narrated to us, who said, Mujahid narrated to me, from Abdullah bin Umar, and he mentioned it.Muslim narrated it in the Book on the Description of the Resurrection, Paradise, and Hell (2811), through another route from Mujahid, in a shortened form. His saying "bi-hummar" is with the mim doubled and pronounced with damma, and it refers to the soft part that is eaten from the heart of the palm tree.
