The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took my hand one day and led me to his home. Pieces of bread were brought out to him, and he asked, "Is there no condiment?"They replied, "No, except for a little vinegar."He said, "Vinegar is an excellent condiment."Jabir said, "I have loved vinegar ever since I heard this from the Prophet of Allah ﷺ."Talha said, "I have loved vinegar ever since I heard this from Jabir."
أخذ رسول الله ﷺ بيدي ذات يوم إلى منزله، فأخرج إليه فلقا من خبز، فقال: ما من أدم؟ فقالوا: لا، إلا شيء من خل، قال: فإن الخل نعم الأدم. قال جابر: فما زلت أحب الخل منذ سمعتها من نبي الله ﷺ. وقال طلحة: ما زلت أحب الخل منذ سمعتها من جابر.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Drinks (2052:167), from Yaqub bin Ibrahim Dawraqi, who said, Ismail bin Ulaya narrated to us, from Muthanna bin Saeed, who said, Talha bin Nafi narrated to me, that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah, and he mentioned it.
