During the time of Khaybar, we ate horses and wild donkeys, but the Prophet ﷺ forbade us from eating domestic donkeys.
أكلنا زمن خيبر الخيل وحمر الوحش، ونهانا النبي ﷺ عن الحمار الأهلي.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hunting and Slaughtered Animals (1941:37), from Muhammad bin Hatim, who said, Muhammad bin Bakr narrated to us, who said, Ibn Jurayj informed us, who said, Abu Zubayr informed me, that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah, and he related it.
